Kill the clipboard apps

The goal of “Kill the clipboard” apps is to reduce paperwork and improve your care. These apps securely store your medical records in one place and make it easy for you to share them electronically with your health care providers, which helps you:

  • Avoid filling out or bringing medical paperwork
  • Save time at appointments
  • Improve coordination between your doctors

How it works

  1. In the Medicare App Library choose an app in the “Kill the Clipboard” category. Each app may offer different features and services.
  2. Verify your identity using ID.me or CLEAR® to protect your health information.
  3. Create an account and give the app permission to get your medical records from participating health care organizations and health plans. Your health information stays connected to the app so it’s always up-to-date, and at any time you can choose to stop sharing access to your information with the app. It’s always important to check the app’s privacy policy to understand how your information will be used and protected.
  4. When you arrive at a participating doctor’s office, the app will create a secure access code (like a QR code) that you can share with your provider. They’ll be able to:
    • Scan the QR code
    • Securely get your records electronically, including:
      • Medications
      • Allergies
      • Test results
      • Health conditions
      • Medical and hospital visits
      • Vaccines
      • Insurance (including Medicare information)
