Tdap vaccines
Medicare drug coverage (Part D) covers the Tdap vaccine
Description
Tdap is the booster vaccine that protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (also called whooping cough).
Costs
You pay nothing for the Tdap vaccine if you have Part D .
Part D covers all adult vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) that aren't covered under Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) , including the vaccines for shingles, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), measles, and more. Your Part D plan won’t charge you a copayment or apply a deductible for vaccines ACIP recommends.
Ask your doctor or healthcare provider how much your test, item, or service will cost.
Your doctor may recommend services that Medicare does not cover or offers too frequently. This could end up in additional costs for you. Make sure to ask your doctor about the reasons for these recommendations and what Medicare will actually cover.
Specific amounts you could owe depend on:
Other insurance you may have
How much your doctor charges
If your doctor accepts assignment
The type of facility
Where you get your test, item, or service
