Tdap shots

Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) don’t cover the Tdap shot.

Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D) usually covers all commercially available vaccines needed to prevent illness, including the Tdap shot. You can now get more vaccines under Part D at no cost to you. Contact your Medicare drug plan for more coverage information.

What it is

Tdap is the adolescent and adult booster shot for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (also called whooping cough). The childhood shot is called DTaP. Both protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis.
