Enteral & parenteral nutrition (nutrients, supplies & equipment)
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers enteral and parenteral nutrition, nutrients, supplies, and equipment (feeding pumps) under the prosthetic device benefit.
Your costs in Original Medicare
- After you meet the Part B deductible , you pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount .
- Medicare will cover your enteral infusion pump from a doctor, other health care provider, or supplier who accepts assignment. If a supplier doesn't accept assignment , there’s no limit on the amount they can charge you, and you may have to pay the entire bill (both your share and Medicare's share) at the time you get the pump.
To find out how much your test, item, or service will cost, talk to your doctor or health care provider. The specific amount you’ll owe may depend on several things, like:
- Other insurance you may have
- How much your doctor charges
- If your doctor accepts assignment
- The type of facility
- Where you get your test, item, or service
