Your Medicare Coverage

Is my test, item, or service covered?

Cardiovascular disease (behavioral therapy)

How often is it covered?

Medicare covers one visit per year to help you lower your risk for cardiovascular disease. The visit must be with your primary care doctor in a primary care setting (like your doctor's office). During this visit, your doctor may do these:

  • Discuss aspirin use (if appropriate)
  • Check your blood pressure
  • Give you tips to make sure you're eating well

Who's eligible?

All people with Part B are covered.

Your costs in Original Medicare

You pay nothing if your doctor or other qualified health care provider accepts assignment.

Your doctor or other health care provider may recommend you get services more often than Medicare covers. Or, they may recommend services that Medicare doesn’t cover. If this happens, you may have to pay some or all of the costs. Ask questions so you understand why your doctor is recommending certain services and whether Medicare will pay for them.
