Your account log-in options

You can now create or log in to your secure Medicare account using ID.me, CLEAR®, or Login.gov. These are free, secure services that verify your identity. Verifying your identity helps us prevent fraud and make sure you're the only one who can access your information.

If you already have a Medicare account, you can connect that account to one of these secure services.

Use your own email address when signing up

To help prevent fraud and keep your personal health information private, don’t use an email address you share with a spouse, family member, or anyone else.

Prepare to verify your identity

Each service offers quick and easy ways to verify your identity, and you can complete the process either online or in-person. You won’t need to verify your identity each time you log in.

Verify online

You can use your smartphone’s camera to verify your identity in just a few minutes.

You’ll be asked for:

  • A picture of your REAL ID U.S. driver’s license, a state-issued photo ID (like a driver's license), or your U.S. passport. If you don’t have any of those documents, but you do have other U.S. documents, ID.me may still be able to verify your identity.
  • Your Social Security Number (SSN).
  • A photo or video of yourself.

Verify in-person

Start the identity verification process online using a desktop computer (or smartphone) and then follow the instructions to go to a physical location for in-person help.

You can only verify your identity in-person if you use ID.me (at places like the UPS store) or Login.gov (at the U.S. Post Office). Bring your identity documents and QR code or registration code with you to your in-person appointment.

If you don’t have access to a smartphone or computer, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) for help with Medicare. TTY users can call 1-877-486-2048.
