Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative

What is it?

The Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative is a partnership between Medicare, other insurance programs and organizations that helps your doctors get the support they need to give you the best care possible. The initiative helps doctors get staff and services to give you better, more coordinated care.

When should I get it?

You’ll get a notice if your doctor is participating in the Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative. Primary care practices participating in the initiative will send letters at different times throughout the year, based on which doctors and primary care providers are participating, and which people with Medicare have been getting care from them.

Who sends it?

Primary care practices participating in the initiative.

What should I do if I get this notice?

There are no additional steps you need to take to keep getting care from your usual providers.Your current Medicare benefits, services, rights and protections won’t change, and you’ll still have the right to use any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare, at any time.
