Important Information

Important Information if you get your Prescription Drug Coverage through TRICARE (Military retiree benefits), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA benefits), or FEHBP (Federal employee retiree benefits)

    • It will almost always be to your advantage to keep your current coverage without any changes. However, if you have limited income and resources, you may qualify for extra help from Medicare. If you decide to make changes to your current coverage, you should first contact your benefits administrator or your FEHBP insurer. You can contact them by calling TRICARE (1-888-363-5433), VA (1-877-222-8387), or FEHBP (1-888-767-6738).
    • If you lose your TRICARE, VA, or FEHBP coverage and join a Medicare drug plan, in most cases, you won’t have to pay a penalty, as long as you join within 63 days of losing your TRICARE, VA, or FEHBP coverage.

Note: You can stop now and contact your benefits administrator or FEHBP insurer to discuss your current coverage. Please keep in mind that if you decide to change your current coverage in the future, you should first contact your benefit administrator or FEHBP insurer.
